"Crank 2" is Pure Movie Mayhem

The original "Crank" was wild enough. "Crank 2" goes above and beyond the bar set by the first. So much over the top violence, so much unnecessary nudity - it's an action junkie's heaven.

"Crank 2" picks up seconds after the first movie ends. Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) is scooped off the street with a snow shovel by the Chinese Mafia. His heart is replaced with an artificial one. The heart keeps going by being hooked up to a battery. As you can guess, the battery gives out multiple times and Chelios has to shock himself numerous ways to stay alive.

A proper synopsis can't be done, as the whole movie is basically Chelios using LA as his personal shooting ground while he tries to find the guy who stole his heart. And that is not a bad thing whatsoever. Playing up the video game angle more than the previous film, the different beeps and noises seemingly stripped straight from a video game add to the overall insanity of the movie.

Other stars are Amy Smart, returning as Chelios' girlfriend, now a stripper. Bai Ling is a whore who keeps following Chelios around. Dwight Yoakam returns as the Doctor who continuously helps Chelios, and has a much more prominent role this time.

A stupidly amazing film, the film goes far above the outrageous original. The big question is - what will be the gimmick for the next sequel if there is one? It's surprising that a gaming company hasn't thought of a way to turn this movie into a game.
