On Tuesday, March 9th the Ramifications presented their Annual Acapella Festival in the C. Walsh Theatre, featuring musical groups from across Boston. Singing along with the Rams was the MIT/Wellesley Toons, Northeastern Downbeats, Berklee College's Pitch Slapped and Boston's four-woman ensemble, Purely Vocals.
The Ramifications opened the night with the soulful "Mr. Postman." The MIT/Wellesley Toons, founded in 1990, took place on the stage next singing popular favorites from the Orion Experience, Beyoncé and Mariah Carey.
The Northeastern Downbeats, founded in 2000, followed up with Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn." Beyoncé's "If I Were A Boy" and Kanye West's "Heartless."
Purely Vocals, started in 2001, may look like a group of older women but they definitely knew how to entice their younger audience with classic songs like Lesley Gore's "It's My Party" and Jackie Wilson's "Higher and Higher."
The last group to perform was Berklee's Pitch Slapped, exciting the crowd with songs like Rihanna's "Disturbia," Kelly Clarkson's "Because of You," and Justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around (Comes Around)."
Ending the night, the Rams sang Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance," along with a replica of Gaga's infamous red crown from the 2009 MTV VMA's.
The Ramifications will be releasing a new CD, "If Maniacs Riot" later this spring. Their next performance, along with other PAO groups, will be performing at the Hard Rock Café on Saturday, March 27th.
