Bruins Lose to Senators 2-1, at the Garden

09/29/11 22:52 PM

With the preseason coming to an end, the Bruins were unable to beat the Senators as they lost 2-1. Boston out shot Ottawa 40-20, but couldn’t find a way to hold on to their early lead. "Even though you lost, it’s not in the standings, but you were still the better team. And tonight we were the better team,” said Bruins coach Claude Julien. The B’s clearly outplayed the Senators as Milan Lucic put them up 1-0 in the first period with the power play goal. Boston finished the period outshooting Ottawa 20-5, but that wouldn’t mean much. A pair of goals by the Senators in the 3rd period secured the victory for them. Milan Lucic spoke about his teams’ performance after the game saying, "We're gonna have to find a way to recreate that chemistry...

Joe Corvo Adapting to the City of Champions

09/19/11 11:20 AM

As practice ended, media crowded around Zdeno Chara’s locker while Joe Corvo sat at his, eating a banana. Some reporters (including myself) approached Corvo while he spoke about his first day of camp with the Bruins. “That was tiring; I haven’t played a game or skated like that really since April 6th,” said the defensemen. So if he’s tired, how do you think the Bruins players are feeling? Getting signed by a team who just won the championship might be tough, but Corvo says the guys have done a great job at making him feel comfortable in Boston. I asked him how he has been adapting so well to this team and he responded, “By not really making a big deal of it, just treating it like I’ve been here for a long time. Everybody has been real...

Brad Marchand Talks about a Dream Come True

09/19/11 11:19 AM

After a bit of a wait, Brad Marchand is finally back with the Bruins. He did a good job making his presence felt before he even got on the ice today as he signed autographs for many fans during Group A session of practice. Once Group B practice begun, Marchand was back to regular form as his pesky self. Claude Julien talked a bit about the young forward and his style of play, “He’s an agitator, always has been an agitator. I don’t think that part of his game will go away but I think he’ll get smarter at how he agitates and when he agitates. It’s part of his makeup that we like, and we know it’s helped our team in a lot of situations, but when it’s gotten out of control it’s also hurt us at times.” Surely, Marchand was a ...

2011 State of the Bruins

09/19/11 11:08 AM

Just like during the season, the lights went off and all eyes were on the TD Garden HDX for a video montage as fans waited for the Bruins to take the ice. However, this time the video showed from the beginning of the Bruins season in Prague, to the end of the Bruins season in Vancouver where they celebrated their Stanley Cup Championship victory. The scene … well it was a bit different, as it was set for the annual State of the Bruins. This event is held for season-ticket holders, but of course this time would be special due to a shiny trophy that’s been traveling all around North America for the past couple of months. As the lights turned on, B’s forward Patrice Bergeron led the way -- with Stanley in hand -- followed by Bruins goalie Tim Thomas. Bergy and...
