A Day in the Life...
Lina Rodriguez talks about experiences the average person can relate to, and those we love to laugh at. From work and college life to family life, she covers the times we laugh, regret, get angry, and laugh a little more. All with a lesson learned, of course.

BEAT LA, again?

Last night’s Celtics game against the Orlando Magic put the Boston team a step closer to banner 18. After allowing the Magic to win two games back to back in Florida, the series was brought back to the garden. The big players last night were none other than Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and the unexpected Nate Robinson. After Rondo was injured, Nate Robinson was brought out and astonished the crowd putting up 13 points in 13 minutes. RayRay put up 20 and the Truth 31, intimidating the Magic and securing the win. It felt so good to see the Celtics beat the team that beat us last year. It demonstrated that no matter what people have said, the Celtics players being old, being out of shape, and despite the injuries, they pull their weight when they need to and get the job...What's going on?

I don’t usually watch the news. They depress me. However, two days ago for some reason, I was watching the night news. A story came on about a homeless man in Queens, New York, who helped a lady who was being attacked. She escaped the attack, but unfortunately the attacker stabbed the homeless man. There is a surveillance video that captured most of what went on. You can see the homeless man stumbling after being attacked, and falling to the ground. The worst part about this story isn’t that a woman was being attacked, or that a man got stabbed, the worst part is that during the time the man laid in the sidewalk bleeding to death, people walked by and did nothing. The surveillance video shows more than 5 people on the same sidewalk walking by the man. It is...Not what I did for Denver, but what Denver did for me.

I feel I should warn the reader that this blog contains feelings. Some corny lines, and some inside jokes. I went to Denver, Colorado for my spring break with 21 other Suffolk University students. The Alternative Spring Break was offered by the SOULS office; I applied and got into the trip. We had to attend meetings every Tuesday to get to know each other before the trip; however most of these were awkward and filled with ice breakers. On the day we left for Denver, I got to know a couple of the people on the trip, not realizing that in a week these people would become a second family to me. We arrived at the Denver airport where we waited for about an hour for two of the members who were on another flight. We killed time by eating, and playing a game of...FormSpringWhat?!

The problem with sites like Facebook, MySpace and twitter is the lack of privacy. The biggest complaint is that it is taking up much of our time, while we could be doing other useful things. The good thing about it is that you get to keep in touch with multiple people. The pros and cons could go on and on. Arguments about Facebook are endless and never change. Our generation spends most of their time on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace (for whoever still uses it, I know there are some of you somewhere out there) creeping on people’s private lives. Yeah, this is clearly a problem. They take a million pictures, update statuses constantly and join a million groups per day. We read what people did over the weekend, who they talk to constantly, and keep track of their...The importance of Doing your Job

Every now and then, we come across those workers who have had a bad day. They are grumpy, don’t look like they want to be there, and of course have no passion for their job. It is mostly people who are working at jobs they do not like, doing things they would not dream about doing. Some of them, have sat through a day of work and just want to go home, understandable, we are all human. Have you ever encountered three? In a row? I was on my way home, and had to get a taxi from the T to where I keep my car. 15 minute drive, tops. Point A to point B. unfortunately for me, this was somewhat of a lazy day for the cab drivers. There were 6 taxis parked on the side of the road, and I entered the one closest to me. The oh-not-so-nice taxi driver asked me where I was going,...
