Boston is known as the largest college oriented city with at least thirty-three different higher education establishment but unfortunately, that doesn’t alter the high price of city supplies like food. Luckily, Area Four a new café, bakery and full-service restaurant help to protect college kids from the overpriced meal they can’t seem to avoid. With specials like their $4 hot dogs or their “Pie on the Fly” two large pizzas to go, students from all surrounding universities, including Suffolk, can easily afford a delicious meal without breaking their very small bank.

Area Four is a new restaurant on Technology Square in Cambridge that was established in May of last year. It is a combination of a coffeehouse-bakery style café and a full-service restaurant and bar. They serve everything from cappuccinos to wood-fire pizzas. Even on Saturdays between 4pm and 6pm, they offer $1 oysters. They also just premiered their new hot dog stand outside of the restaurant this summer where they offer their special custom $4 large hot dogs.

Not only are the prices affordable for the café, but also the ingredients used to make the foods are highly sustainable. Owner Michael Leviton has created relationships with many local farms to allow for Area Four to promote sustainability. The special $4 hot dogs from the new cart are even BN Ranch all-beef hot dogs where the cattle were grass-fed and treated without cruelty. People may say that Fenway Franks are Boston’s best hot dogs, but they may have some competition, which they definitely lose in the quality meat area. The sustainable dogs from Area Four are the meatiest and most delicious dogs a person could find. Not to mention you can try some new toppings with the pickled banana pepper relish or jalapeno-pineapple relish the cart offers.

Even if you’ve got some time to sit down for a meal instead of a grab-and-go, Area Four offers a great atmosphere to grab a bite to eat and enjoy time with friends. The inside décor gives off a relaxed but fun atmosphere with the contemporary-style construct and the indie lighting and decoration. While the inside is a great place to enjoy the restaurant, there is also outdoor enjoyment that Area Four offers. They allow for customers to borrow lawn games such as bocce and croquet for some outside fun.

With the combination of cheap prices, quality food, and great atmosphere Area Four is a great place to grab some grub or enjoy an outing with friends. It’s about time that someone caters to college students in the most important aspect of college life; food and festivities. Be sure to check out Area Four’s twitter, @area_four, and Facebook page, www.facebook.com/areafourcambridge and start enjoying your meals without buyers’-remorse.
