The Student Leadership and Involvement Office (SLI) has added a new member to their team. Meghan Kenney is enjoying her time here at Suffolk University as the new Assistant Director for SLI.
Kenney, who came from being the Assistant Director of Student Leadership and Involvement at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy is bringing all she has to offer to the students at Suffolk.
Although she has four years of experience being in student affairs, she does note that Suffolk University has brought her new experiences. In comparison to her previous place of employment, the University's student population is bigger and the academic focus is larger as well.
The transition from a medical focus school to a liberal arts school is something that she has enjoyed so far. "I love it!" she says, "It's been great. This is a great environment."
So far, Kenney has gotten involved in multiple projects with SLI. The already participated in the Leadership Exchange program that took place last weekend, and at the end of March she will be heading down to South Carolina with a group of Journey members to finish the program.
She not only jumped right into programs with SLI, but also is currently involved with the Alternative Spring Break program through the S.O.U.L.S. Center. She will be going to Gulfport, MS to work with Habitat for Humanity in making some homes.
Kenney has a lot of goals to the semester: she hopes to works closely with Program Council and their events, start a meet and greet to get to know the rest of the faculty and organization advisors, as well as starting up the yearbook again!
Kenney leaves a message for the student body of Suffolk University: "We're here for you guys," she says, "We can't do what you want us to do, unless you get involved"
