Summer is a period of transition for most of us. The Voice will make some transitions, with our E-Board getting an overhaul after the graduation of Mike Miccoli, the former editor in chief and one of the founders of The Voice.
The departing class of 2008 will leave college behind and make the move to that ever-intimidating state of mind: real life.
The incoming Class of 2012 will make a big transition of their own, making the jump from high school to college. It might not be as drastic a change as the seniors', but its pretty dramatic in its own right.
Going from high school to college is about more than just getting away from the parents and getting a little freedom. Sometimes, it's about developing an entire new outlook on life.
It's about forming new relationships, establishing a sense of direction, changing one's method of thinking, maturing, learning about yourself and finding out what it takes to make the most of your situation.
It might not happen at first, and it certainly won't all happen by the end of this summer. But its true what they say, you're a completely different person when you finish college than you were when you started. Hell, I'm only two years in and I've already noticed the changes.
For me, the summer before college was about easing in to my new situation. Oftentimes that's what summer is about. Making that transition, and making the most out of what comes after.
