On Tuesday, April 13, the SGA hosted their annual Leadership Awards ceremony at the Boston Marriott Copley.
Senior Marc Picariello was the event’s lively host, and throughout the night guests were entertained by the Ramifications, Seriously Bent, and also a short piece from the upcoming Theater Department production, Into the Woods.
At the end of the ceremony, SGA president Brian LeFort announced the winners of the Distinguished Service awards. This year the Office of Career Services was recognized for their service as an outstanding campus organization, while SGA members Jordan Nye and KyQuan Phong were recognized for their dedication to the Suffolk community throughout their college careers.
LeFort then invited President-elect Mitch Vieira to the stage for the traditional Passing of the Gavel, before Assistant Dean of Students, John Silveria, led the closing remarks for the end of the event.
Silveria read a touching handwritten note he received from CJN Professor Norine Bacigalupo, who was nominated as an outstanding faculty member from the College of Arts and Sciences. Bacigalupo expressed her regret that health issues would not allow her to attend the awards show, but also her enormous gratitude for the nomination and her pride for being a Suffolk professor and alum.
“As I tell my doctors,” wrote Bacigalupo, “If you took an X-Ray of my heart, you would find a Suffolk logo and a pair of red socks.”
