NFL Week 14 Predictions
At this point of the season there is no room for error. Week 14 includes some pointless games, along with some very important ones also. Can the Jets get back on track after their dreadful lost against the Pats? The relatively loose AFC west playoff picture will be much clearer as the Chiefs take on the Chargers. With that said, here are my Week 14 previews and predictions.
Oakland Raiders (6-6) at Jacksonville Jaguars (7-5)
I'm not convinced that either of these teams is good. Jacksonville has a chance to win the division but they are under pressure since the Colts won Thursday Night. Maurice Jones-Drew has had five consecutive 100- yard rushing games. Expect him to run all over this Raiders defense. Jacksonville wins an important game at home.
GAME OF THE WEEK: New England Patriots (10-2) at Chicago Bears (9-3)
All eyes will be on Soldier Field Sunday. The Bears are on a five game winning streak as they prepare to host the Patriots. Jay Cutler has been playing good football as of late, but he will be out played by Tom Brady. New England leads the league in points scored and after what they did to the Jets last week, I'm convinced they can beat anybody. The Pats will be without LB Brandon Spikes which may hurt them, but they always find a way to get it done with whoever they have. It will be interesting to see how New England's offense responds to the tough Chicago defense. This is a huge game for both teams who are fighting to stay atop their respectful divisions. Home-field advantage will help the Bears, but it won't be enough to stop the Patriots. Pats win a hard fought game in the Windy City.
Kansas City Chiefs (8-4) at San Diego Chargers (6-6)
Had the Chargers not lost last week, this would be a huge game. San Diego technically still has a chance to make the playoffs, but they will need a miracle. Kansas City may be without QB Matt Cassel, which leaves them with Brodie Croyle. Yeah that's a real name. Croyle has started nine games for the Chiefs since 2006 and has lost every one. The Chargers will win this game, but don't expect to see them in the playoffs. San Diego wins a big one at home.
Philadelphia Eagles (8-4) at Dallas Cowboys (4-8) (Sunday Night Football)
How bout them Cowboys? This game might be more interesting than people think. Ever since they fired Wade Phillips, Dallas has actually been playing up to their potential. Tony who? Romo? Have no fear, Jon Kitna is doing just fine. Michael Vick is having an MVP season, and the Eagles have been playing great. Let's not forget this is a big rivalry game also, despite the records. Call me crazy, but I'm calling the upset! The Cowboys win a crazy game in Dallas.
Indianapolis Colts (6-6) at Tennessee Titans (5-7) (Thursday Night Football)
After losing three straight, no way the Colts let this one slip away. Call it a redemption week for Peyton Manning. Colts win an important game on the road.
Cleveland Browns (5-7) at Buffalo Bills (2-10)
Both of these teams have no hope, or do they? Cleveland is playing for pride while the Bills are playing for next year's draft pick. Browns win on the road.
Atlanta Falcons (10-2) at Carolina Panthers (1-11)
Unfair is the only word to describe this game. Falcons fly high over Carolina.
Green Bay Packers (8-4) at Detroit Lions (2-10)
This is a must win game for the Packers who are fighting for a playoff spot. The Lions are better than their record shows, but there's no way they win this one. Green Bay makes a statement in Detroit.
New York Giants (8-4) at Minnesota Vikings (5-7)
Brett Favre is injured again (what a surprise). The Giants will win this game regardless if he plays or not. WRs Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks may be back this week; this should be a huge game for the G-MEN. The Giants stand tall against the Vikings with a win.
Cincinnati Bengals (2-10) at Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3)
Time to take the paper bags out for the Bungles fans again. Steelers win an easy game at home.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-5) at Washington Redskins (5-7)
Bucs fans are still hoping that they make the playoffs, but it's not happening. I think the Redskins' can pull an upset this Sunday. Redskins win a sloppy game at home.
St. Louis Rams (6-6) at New Orleans Saints (9-3)
Last year's Super Bowl MVP against this year's potential MVP. I think the Saints experience will help them win this game, but the Rams will still win their division. Saints win an important game at home.
Seattle Seahawks (6-6) at San Francisco 49ers (4-8)
Call me crazy but I'm actually picking the 49ers to win a game. San Fran wins a crazy divisional game at home.
Denver Broncos (3-9) at Arizona Cardinals (3-9)
The interim head coach trend will continue this week. Broncos win a pointless game in Arizona.
Miami Dolphins (6-6) at New York Jets (9-3)
After being embarrassed by the Patriots, the Jets will bounce back with a big win against the Dolphins. J-E-T-S win big in the Meadowlands.
Baltimore Ravens (8-4) at Houston Texans (5-7) (Monday Night Football)
Baltimore needs to make a statement in Houston in order to be considered a dangerous playoff team. Ravens win a solid game in Reliant Stadium.
