Does the slugger still have what it takes?

Reason # 1: Hard Worker

Despite all of the controversy behind his steroid usage, it is undeniable that Manny Ramirez earned his signing to the majors by the Cleveland Indians back in 1993. Since his early days, Ramirez has always had a rigorous work out regimen in order to get in shape and accomplish his dream of becoming a major leaguer. I strongly believe that after everything he has gone through, he will step it up for whichever team he is signed to.

Reason# 2: "Manny Being Manny" is retired

Listen, this man is 40 years old! Lighten up; the antics are far beyond his years and I'm sure Manny has learned from this most recent media attention is that his actions do indeed have consequences. Granted he may still act like the clown that he is, but his level of seriousness towards the progression of the game will only be tripled this second time around for him.

Reason # 3: He's a Gain not a Loss

By signing Manny you have the upper hand. Why? Because he's desperate now. He's reached out to the media saying that he really wants to play for a team. Sign him to an "un-Mannylike" contract at say 2-5 million for one year. And when you DO sign him you can have him coming off the bench and study his efforts on and off the field with teammates, coaching staff and his overall approach to the game.

These are my top three reasons as to why I believe that Manny should be signed to a team in the MLB. If, and only if, Manny does get signed; I would like to see him be challenged in every sense of the game. Challenged in honesty, team chemistry, effort, production and respect towards himself, the team, the fans and more importantly major league baseball. This way, he can at least ATTEMPT to retire gracefully.

With that being said, I think that the Miami Marlins would be a great fit for Manny. Florida is his current hometown and he would be managed by none other than Ozzie Guillen, a man who didn't tolerate "Manny being Manny" in Chicago and will definitely not allow it in the rebuilding of the Marlins franchise.
