As part of a campus-wide initiative to promote unity within the Suffolk community, the Student Alumni Association (SAA) served free pancakes on Saturday in the Donahue Café.
The Student Alumni Association is a contingency of the Suffolk University Alumni Association, just founded this year. It is their goal to change the culture of Suffolk to a united community, rather than one divided by age or other factors. Their motto is, “Suffolk Student Today. Suffolk Alumni For Life.”They seek to build connections for the entire Suffolk community, not just between students, but also between graduates and undergraduates.
On Saturday, the Student Alumni Association held the pancake brunch in order to draw support for the Women’s Volleyball team, who were playing later that day.
Elizabeth Conley, the Associate Director of Young Alumni Engagement, describes the event: “It’s great using sports to bring the students together. This event is really about getting everyone together and promoting Suffolk unity.”
Suffolk Junior, Nick Lattarull also shared his thoughts: “Free pancakes- you can’t beat it. It’s a great way to show school spirit. They should do this more often.”
The Student Alumni Association plans to hold more events like the pancake brunch.
Next semester, before home games for men’s and women’s basketball and hockey games, they look to hold similar events that include raffles, face painting, and food.
All of this is part of the Student Alumni Association’s goal to create unity through school spirit and pride, class unity, career and professional support and philanthropy.
