Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara

The new Illegal Length Mascara by Maybelline promises noticeably longer lashes that last all day. It features 4mm fiber extensions and a sealing formula that supposedly stretches the lashes while attaching the fiber extensions.  Its packaging is very similar to the Lash Stiletto Mascara, also from Maybelline.

The upside for this product is that it does, to an extent, do what it claims. It does add a noticeable amount of length to lashes, and when you apply it you can see the fiber extensions being attached as you coat your lashes.  The formula doesn’t weigh down your lashes and, if you curl your lashes, will encourage the curl of your lashes rather than pull it down. 

After wearing it all day it didn’t smudge or leave any fallout and still appeared as long as when the product was first applied.

The one downside to this look is that, while it did provide length, it didn’t really add any volume.  Thinner lashes might look a little spidery with the added length and though it could be paired with volumizing mascara it would be more probably be more budget friendly to just pass on this product.  It would most likely work best if you already have a lot of lashes and only need the extra length.  It’s also a little pricey for mascara, at almost nine dollars, but if you’ve tried other Maybelline mascaras like the Lash Stiletto line which runs at nearly the same price, it’s definitely worth giving it a try.
