I sit here in the office of this publication, stumped as to what to write as my first article as Editor-In-Chief. It's astonishing that I'm still able to write for this web site considering what the group has done in five years.
What started as a electronic soapbox for one angry student has evolved into a 24 hour web site dedicated to cover the events, big and small, that Suffolk and it's clubs provide. We have a partnership with WSUB to provide students with some broadcast news and a couple of laughs with our Youtube shorts. We have grown so quickly in such little time that some congratulations are in order.
First, some thanks go to two of our recently departed staff members: Manny Veiga and Jimmy Toscano. They have been around The Voice since the beginning and left their stamp on this publication. Jimmy Toscano has been a great writer and an incredible sports editor. He has used his experience from this publication to start making a name for himself in the Boston sports scene and is proof that hard work pays off.
As for Manny, he's been our leader for the past two years. Without his dedication and passion for The Voice, this web site wouldn't exist. His work has opened doors and given opportunities to many today and for many years to come. His work will be not be forgotten.
Next, I give thanks to all of the writers and editors. They work hard to make sure the articles up on the site are as good as any other paper, college or professionally, in the city. I'm very fortunate to have a staff of people who are passionate about their craft and strive to become better with every article that they write. I look forward to seeing what they accomplish in this upcoming year.
Finally, a huge thank you goes out to you, our loyal readers. When we won Outstanding Organization of the Year two years ago, it showed us that the work we put into this site is getting out there and being read. I can speak for everyone on this staff and say we appreciate all of those that take their time to go and read what we have to say and that you like the way we approach certain topics. It means a lot to us.
Now that has all been said, let me focus on what you fine folks can expect from us this year. We will be continuing to add content to the site daily and keep the quality that you have come to expect from The Voice. We will be pushing out more videos, with help from good friends at WSUB, and churn out more broadcasting stories and short videos to help pass time. We will also be going on the airwaves as Bobby Keough and I will be hosting a radio show on Suffolk Free Radio in which we will mix our opinions on certain subjects and also highlight some of the many clubs that this University has to offer and let them explain their upcoming events. It's mainly to give people a chance to listen to what clubs are doing around campus as there is so much events out there and I don't think many people that attend this school realize that.
There are also a couple things I have to hold back from you right now. They are in the works and as soon as they are finished and are giving the final OK, I will announce them right here. I just ask for your patience. We haven't let you down yet right?
I leave you all with this: The Suffolk Voice has never had this many creative, talented writers on staff. They will bring you the news in a concise, clear manner and will deliver it to you on your computer, your phone, on Youtube, Twitter, and the airwaves. We're coming at you from all angles. We strive on being the best. It's what got us this far, so why stop now?
