Papadopoulos steps down, Suffolk searches for new soccer coach

Nick Papadopoulos has roamed the sidelines as the Suffolk University Men's Head Soccer Coach for the past seven seasons, posting 61 victories over that span. However, when the 2008 season begins in September, the soccer team will see a new face in the head coaching ranks and Papadopoulos donning a new title within the program. A semester abroad renews one Voice writer's view of home

It's 9 p.m. in Munich (which means it is about 3 p.m. on the east coast) on Tuesday, June 3. I'm sitting in a bar, enjoying some Bavarian beer and trying to think of the subject of this article for the newspaper. I had a different one written, about my personal experience with the Czech culture, but I junked it.

"Dean" is out, Vice President Stoll is in

For many in the Suffolk community, remembering to refer to Dr. Nancy Stoll as the Vice President for Student Affairs may take some getting used to, but the change is worth noting after the Dean of Students for the past 20 years received a promotion this past April. Suffolk University President David Sergent welcomed Vice President Stoll into her new position by commending her "exceptional leadership in our campus life and student service programs for the College of Arts and Sciences and the Sawyer Business School.

Red Wings win 11th Stanley Cup, beat Pens in six

Six was the magic number. After being unable to close out the series with a 3-0 lead, head coach Mike Babcock and the Detroit Red Wings eventually fought off the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 6 at the Mellon Arena on Wednesday night to win Lord Stanley's Cup. Pittsburgh had goals from both Evgeni Malkin and Marian Hossa, but Detroit was able to eliminate the Penguins with three goals of their own, wrapping up the series with a 3-2 victory.

Freshman get a taste of Alphabet STEW, Acting Out

Oh, Freshman orientation, how we remember thee: hiking from one welcoming event to the next, becoming acquainted with other newly-graduated "adults" at two in the morning at the 150 Tremont dorms, and savoring that first surprising morsel of gourmet Sodexo cafeteria food. Okay, so I personally never experienced summer orientation here at Suffolk (us spring-semester freshmen enjoyed our glorified two-day tour of the campus), but at least I know what's happening. And some of it is pretty interesting stuff.

Celtics as NBA Champs? Yes please.

Celtics as NBA Champs? Yes please.

By now you've watched enough television and read enough articles to know more than you ever have known about the Celtics and Lakers. I'll spare you the 5,000 word match up breakdown and sum it up short for you: Nobody matches up well with Kevin Garnett. Kobe Bryant is the best scorer in the league. Paul Pierce can do it all, and will. Lamar Odom is underrated and overrated at the same time, I'm not sure how though. If Kendrick Perkins can stay out of foul trouble, he will dominate Pau Gasol down low. Rajon Rondo is much better than he thinks he is. Both teams have pretty solid benches; There is no huge advantage either way. There's your breakdown, fill in the blanks as the game goes on.

With that being said, this drinking game will guarantee to get you blackout drunk by halftime if you follow all the rules. It is highly recommended that you record this game as you are watching it so you don't miss what will undoubtedly be a great series.

A Message from SGA President, Brian LeFort (6.5.08)

The Student Government Association - for those of you who do not know - is the representation of the students to the administration. We are here to listen to the students, to act for the students' interests, and to advocate to the administration to reach common goals that would better Suffolk University. For any students who do not know what we really do, we basically are financial support for the clubs on campus and we work with the administration on all aspects of the University.

I think that everyone can agree that thanks to the politicians of Massachusetts, it is now extremely difficult for people to come into the ownership of firearms. Regardless of how good a person's intentions are, there are laws in place that make buying their second amendment right a long and arduous process that doesn't even guarantee profitable results, ultimately.
